Job Summary
Design PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and electrical control circuits while conducting field activities like installation, commissioning, and site investigations. Perform systems integrations using serial and ethernet protocols, conduct Factory Acceptance Testing, and prepare proposals, plans, and technical reports. Present to customers and internal stakeholders, then deliver electronic documentation. Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel up to 80% for field work and to develop in-office presences in Washington, D.C. or Atlanta, GA. This role operates within a mentor-mentee framework for small-to-large projects in Building Automation and Industrial Control systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
- Coursework, academic projects, internships, or co-op experience demonstrating an interest in controls, automation, embedded systems, or programming
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Willingness to travel for field activities and to develop an in-office presence in Washington, D.C. or Atlanta, GA
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States

- Positions where driving is an essential function will also require a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years in PLC programming utilizing IEC-61131 languages
- 2+ years in HMI/SCADA design, programming, and database programming
- Certification with Inductive Automation Ignition, GE Cimplicity, Rockwell FactoryTalk or Wonderware System Platform is a plus
- 2+ years in electrical schematic design for control systems
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus
- 0-2+ years in networking for OT/ICS networks
- Certification with Moxa, Cisco, or Rockwell Automation is a plus
- Demonstrated experience with common industrial automation communication protocols including Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET and serial equivalents
- Industry experience with data centers, critical environments, or rail is a plus
- Ability to travel up to 80%
