Job Summary
Lead a Mechanical Analysis functional group of 10 to 12 engineers, managing performance, career development, and staffing while providing project and technical oversight for design activities. Develop proposal inputs for internal and external customers, ensure application of design processes, and collaborate with peer managers to maintain consistency across engineering disciplines. Support department initiatives, technology roadmap creation, and recruiting efforts while fostering employee engagement and knowledge sharing. Manage full life-cycle programs including design, development, system integration, testing, and production for underwater systems. Requires TS/SSBI clearance and polygraph eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a TS/SSBI and pass a polygraph
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 8+ years of experience
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 6+ years' experience
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4 years of engineering experience
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering and structural analysis
- Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams as a functional manager, program manager, Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead, and/or other significant leadership role
- Proficiency in using common engineering design, production, analysis, and office tools
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), hand calculations, and bolted joint analysis
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously
- Experience with program management, functional management, and/or customer management
- Experience with proposals and Earned Value Management
- Experience with business development activities
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
- Experience with design, analysis, integration and test of underwater/naval systems
- Experience with Navy operations for similar maritime domain and technologies
