Job Summary
Systems Engineer at Vatic to maintain, optimize, and grow the infrastructure powering our low-latency trading and research systems across servers, networking equipment, and cloud resources. Responsibilities include Linux server tuning for low latency and deterministic performance, clock synchronization management, automation of system builds and configuration management, and strong networking knowledge (Ethernet, IP, UDP multicast). The role emphasizes delivering performance, stability, and determinism, with opportunities to work across the business to build innovative technology solutions. Required qualifications include a BS or MS in CS, EE, or related STEM field and 3+ years in a low-latency trading environment; preferred qualifications include experience with RHEL, large compute clusters, Cisco/Arista switches, and Google Cloud Platform.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field
- At least 3 years of hands-on administration experience in a low-latency trading environment
- Excellent understanding of the Linux ecosystem and expertise in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux servers
- Expertise in tuning x86 Linux servers for low latency and deterministic performance
- Understanding of, and experience with management of high precision clock synchronization technologies
- Experience with automating system builds and configuration management tools
- A strong understanding of networking concepts and key protocols (Ethernet, IP, and UDP multicast)
- An automation and standardization mindset
