Systems Engineer for Space Sustainability

Job Summary
Provide systems engineering support and consultancy to ESA projects, programmes, and studies, focusing on space sustainability across all project phases. Support project reviews, evaluate proposals, and develop tools to inject sustainability considerations into early assessment studies. Participate in feasibility studies as a Sustainability expert, define R&D work plans, and monitor scientific and technological trends. Contribute to standardisation via internal processes and liaise with the ECSS Authority while promoting sustainability engineering across the Agency. This role involves working within ESTEC in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium, requiring relocation and a hybrid schedule. Interviews will be conducted via Teams.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Physics, Engineering or Computer Science
- Knowledge and experience in Sustainability Engineering topics (Clean Space, Zero Debris, Eco-Design, Space Circular Economy, Active Debris Removal, InOrbit Servicing)
- Knowledge and experience with environmental regulations, such as REACH and RoHS
- Eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration
- Relocate to the Netherlands
