Job Summary

Optimize architecture to achieve top-level product metrics including cost, efficiency, energy/power density, and availability. Own system-level performance and functional requirements while developing subsystem and component requirements in partnership with design engineers. Perform system modeling, simulation, and testing to validate performance against requirements, establish interface definitions across mechanical, electrical, and software teams, and reinforce safety through DFMEAs and risk assessments. Ensure compliance with industry (UL) standards. This role supports Redwood's mission to localize the global battery supply chain by integrating recovery, reuse, and recycling to drive the energy transition.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of design engineering or system engineering experience
  • Excellent first-principles physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, power delivery, energy transformation, and basic thermal mechanics
  • Experience with power electronics product development
  • Proficiency in system modeling tools (Python or Matlab)
  • Experience with requirement management tools (Doors, Jama, etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear and testable engineering requirements
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
