Job Summary
Systems Engineer to design and update computing systems for the Surface Navy Aegis Weapon System, including computer, network, storage, and display systems. Create design documentation (wiring diagrams, port allocations, bills of materials), ship integration information, and production data. Perform trade studies, assess alternatives, and apply technology roadmaps to tactical computing equipment. Develop Visio drawings, fiber optic feedback, and roadmaps for Intel/AMD/NVIDIA, networking, and storage; evaluate motherboard designs and IaaS architectures. On-site role in Dahlgren, VA with up to 10% travel; requires a 4-year STEM degree (or equivalent experience), 3+ years of Systems Engineering experience, and ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance. Desired: knowledge of Aegis Weapon Systems, Ethernet protocols, RS232/422, USB, PCIe; power distribution understanding.
Required Qualifications
- 4-year STEM degree or experience in lieu of degree
- 3 or more years of Systems Engineering experience
- Proficiency with Visio or equivalent drawing tools
- Proficiency with Excel and Visual Basic
- Working knowledge of server and switch hardware
- Working knowledge of fiber optic communication types and compatibilities
- Willingness to work onsite in Dahlgren, VA
- Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one
- US Citizenship required to obtain DoD clearance
