Job Summary
Systems Engineer 3 supporting the Maryland/DC area with a focus on high-assurance Linux systems engineering, scripting/automation, IAM and secret management, IaC tooling, and CI/CD integrations. The role requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph, extensive experience in Linux administration and security-oriented engineering, and the ability to lead engineering efforts across large-scale environments. Location: Fort Meade, MD; primary responsibilities include planning and executing SE activities, developing automation scripts in Bash/Python, deploying and managing secret management solutions, integrating authentication services, and ensuring secure configurations within containerized and CI/CD workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Twenty (20) years' experience as a Systems Engineer in programs of similar scope and complexity
- Demonstrated experience planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline (or five additional years of SE experience in lieu of degree)
- Experience with Linux CLI and Linux toolset
- Scripting experience with Bash and Python to automate processes
- System administration experience in large-scale Linux environments (COTS/GOTS/FOSS)
- Strong background in Linux (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS, Ubuntu)
- Experience deploying Delinea products (Secret Server, Privilege Manager, DevOps Secrets Vault) or related tools
- Documentation of architecture, configuration, and operations
- Familiarity with IAM concepts, PAM, least-privilege, secure configurations
- LDAP/Active Directory/FreeIPA integration with Linux systems
- Troubleshooting enterprise systems and authentication pipelines
- Infrastructure as Code concepts and automation tools such as Ansible and SaltStack
- CI/CD workflow secret management integrations
- Containerization knowledge (Docker, Podman) and related patterns
- Experience with Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence) and cybersecurity engineering in compliance-driven environments (STIGs, NIST, ISO)
