Job Summary
Define and recommend candidate architectures for solution elements to satisfy stakeholder expectations, standards, and the technology roadmap. Establish solution architecture by making trade-offs between technical solutions, costs, risks, and schedule, then document artefacts and approve lower-level specifications. Plan work using systems thinking to analyse problems, manage technical requirements, and produce specifications and reports. Perform system modelling, manage requirement flow-down, and support verification methods to demonstrate compliance with customer needs. Ensure design certification for contract requirements and legislation, including product safety, while contributing to engineering reviews and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Systems Architect with significant vehicle expertise
- Experience of conceptual and detailed design
- Integration and delivery
- Proven capability of delivering mission system programmes
- Understanding of the fundamentals of Systems Engineering methodologies around Design, Verification, Validation, Qualification and Acceptance
- Experience deriving system capabilities, functionalities and behaviours, ideally using Model Based Systems Engineering & SysML approaches
- Ability to contextualise and change the perspective (political, economic, social, technical, environmental, legal...)
- Proven experience in product design in an engineering or research environment
- Good communication skills
- Experience producing documentation with clarity and precision
- Capability to challenge other's views and willing to accept constructive feedback
- IBM DOORS or an equivalent requirements management tool
- Enterprise Architect / Capella / Rhapsody or similar MBSE tool
- SC Clearance (currently held or willing to undergo, achieve, and maintain)
- Residence in the UK for the last 5 years (or minimum of 3 years' residence in the UK over the last 5 years in some circumstances)
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally using methods similar to those recommended by INCOSE
- MATLAB or an equivalent simulation/modelling tool
- Knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design
- Expertise in Lan Systems and Armoured Fighting Vehicle domains
- Knowledge and experience of open vehicle architectures
