Job Summary
Junior Systems Analyst / Security Compliance Auditor to support a federal IT environment. The role focuses on maintaining continuous compliance with federal cybersecurity mandates, agency policies, and internal standards. Key responsibilities include developing and executing a comprehensive IT security audit program; performing technical security assessments, configuration compliance reviews, and vulnerability assessments; monitoring for ongoing compliance; reviewing policies and documentation to identify improvements; documenting audit findings and remediation recommendations; interpreting and applying frameworks such as FISMA and NIST RMF; supporting privacy Act compliance and agency-specific security policies; collaborating with internal teams to ensure proper security controls. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1–3 years of relevant experience, and offers a remote opportunity with occasional on-site meetings at NOAA/NMFS offices in Silver Spring, MD.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 1–3 years of experience supporting IT systems administration, cybersecurity, security compliance, or audit activities
- Basic understanding of federal cybersecurity frameworks including NIST RMF, FISMA, and security compliance standards
- Experience performing vulnerability assessments, system security reviews, or compliance audits
