Job Summary
Analyze problem areas and opportunities for improvement in this mission-critical network for the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting tasks, including unpacking and moving IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across the large VA campus. Provision newly procured endpoints, install OS patches and software, and diagnose hardware or software issues using Service Now and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager tools. Track all system changes, document problems, and provide recommendations for system expansion or revision. Conduct routine audits, manage asset inventory, and perform printer deployment or repair. Work independently or as part of a team to resolve customer-related issues with minimal guidance.
Required Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED
- 8+ years of experience with system administration
- BS degree Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other engineering or technical discipline
- 2+ years of experience with system administration
- Must have knowledge of debugging protocols and processes
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and issues identified by customers and implement corrective actions
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve successful results with minimal guidance
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds (or greater with additional assistance)
- Must be available for daytime hours
- Potential availability for evening and/or weekend hours
