Job Summary
Linux Systems Administrator needed to support a defense research organization in Lexington, MA. The role focuses on owning and maintaining secure IT infrastructure for world-wide networked operations, including server configuration/management, secure RMF-compliant deployments, vulnerability remediation, virtualization with VMware, centralized logging and auditing, and data protection. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree, be a US citizen with an active Secret clearance (Top Secret/SCI a plus), and hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux, VMware/virtualization, networking protocols, Ansible and PowerShell, storage and backup solutions, and cross-platform administration (Windows/macOS). The position requires onsite work near Lexington, MA, and collaboration with researchers to troubleshoot diverse applications in a secure environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science/Technology/Engineering/Math or related technical discipline
- Active Secret Clearance (or higher) with ability to obtain Interim/Active Secret
- 3+ years hardware experience (Dell, SuperMicro, Cisco, Apple, Intel/AMD)
- 3+ years networking applications and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP, HTTP/S)
- 3+ years experience with PowerShell and Ansible (or similar)
- 3+ years configuring and managing centralized logging and audit capabilities
- 3+ years enterprise backup solutions
- 6+ years Red Hat Linux system administration
- 3+ years experience with virtualization (VMware ESXi/vCenter)
- Experience with centralized authentication (Kerberos, SSSD, LDAP, Active Directory)
- Experience with RMF/compliance and secure configurations
- Strong backup and disaster recovery experience
- Experience troubleshooting across Windows and Linux environments
- Programming with Ansible, Shell scripting, PowerShell
- Nice-to-have: Top Secret/SCI clearance, Windows/macOS support, Juniper/Cisco, Docker/Podman, STIGs
