Job Summary
Systems Administrator role focused on sustaining secure, high-performance multi-user computer systems in a DoD-adjacent environment. Responsibilities include maintaining and coordinating with network engineers on multi-user systems, monitoring CPU/disk/resource usage, performing system security administration (creating user profiles/accounts, admin accounts, and system documentation), setting up and maintaining software/hardware, coordinating vendor products, implementing backup/recovery, developing and enforcing resource-use policies, managing physical and virtual systems upgrades, supporting antivirus/patch management, and ensuring DoD security hardening (STIG/SCAP). The position requires hands-on experience with Active Directory/GPOs, PowerShell scripting, VMware Horizon, SAN/NAS/RAID, backup technologies, and exposure to ACAS, Splunk, and SolarWinds. Desired qualifications include RHEL administration, CI/CD automation (Ansible/Terraform), cloud services (Azure/AWS), and disaster-recovery planning. The role demands a bachelor’s or higher degree with extensive experience (8+ years for BA, 6+ for MS, or 3 years with PhD) in IT-related fields, plus active certification and a strong DoD cybersecurity/architecture background.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, or Master’s Degree and 6+ years of experience, or 3 years with PhD; degree fields include Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Cybersecurity; eligible alternative: 4 years of additional relevant experience or specialized training in lieu of a degree in the specified fields
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification (must upload copy)
- Experience building and deploying physical and virtual servers
- Active Directory Domain and Forest Design, Implementation, and Management
- PowerShell Scripting and Windows domain services
- DoD security hardening (STIG/SCAP)
- Familiarity with GPOs
- DNS configuration/troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Firewalls, IDS/IPS
- VMware and Horizon expertise
- Storage Area Networks (SANs), NAS, RAID, and file system management
- Backup technologies and recovery
- ACAS, Splunk, and SolarWinds familiarity
- Preferred: RHEL administration, CI/CD automation (Ansible/Terraform), Cloud services (Azure/AWS)
- Desire certifications: CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP, FITSP-O, GFACT
