Job Summary
Install, commission, and maintain protective relaying schemes, SCADA components, and Operational Technology systems across Dominion Energy's substations. Verify functionality of protection assets, conduct acceptance testing of voltage and current sensing devices, and troubleshoot electromechanical and microprocessor relays. Assist in inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of protection components while applying Cyber Security controls and electrical clearance boundary strategies. Interpret engineering design packages, coordinate with project stakeholders during construction activities, and complete all compliance paperwork. Work alongside senior team members to gain hands-on experience during maintenance activities and construction projects, progressing from guided tasks to independent proficiency. Live approximately one hour from the designated work location to support after-hours response requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or Advanced Post Secondary diploma
- United States military veterans and service members with total of 5 years of military experience
- At least 1 year of military technical training/education components in electrical theory, AC/DC circuits, basic electrical principals and calculations, Ohms Law, Fault isolations, and multimeter applications
- Basic understanding of substation equipment and protection system components found within the substation
- Knowledge of: Testing electro-mechanical based relays; Microprocessor-based relay technology, including logic diagrams, variable equations; IEEE device numbers
- Organizational skills
- Good verbal and written communication
- Computer knowledge
- Use of hand-held multimeters
- Navigate control drawings, schematics, and equipment nameplates
- Recognize electrical hazards
- Self-motivated
- 1-2 years of directly related experience
- Successful completion of steps 1 & 2 of the System Protection development program or equivalent combination of directly related knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Understanding of Company commissioning practices, maintenance work practices, acceptance testing criteria, and associated communications systems
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficient computer knowledge
- Weight restriction of 290 pounds
- Live approximately 1 hour from designated work location
