Job Summary
Owns, plans, and manages the end-to-end system team budget, including driving proactive budget improvement initiatives and cost-reduction projects across the engineering lifecycle. Manages and leads a program involving multiple functions and project teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for a product or service offering. Oversees logistics of parts for builds and prototypes and works on multiple projects, simultaneously. Develops and directs the development of schedules, critical deliverables, detailed program budgets, cost-tracking mechanisms, resource allocation plans, and other support requirements. Manages activities of supporting project teams and internal development partners; ensures progress against established plan and makes data-driven determinations to optimize budget spending, alter schedules, or update resource allocation to meet product and financial goals. Manages program to ensure procedural compliance, maintenance, and safety practices are followed for new and existing equipment. Communicates program progress, financial variances/escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with management and partners to recommend and implement changes to product, processes, or business practices to ensure strict adherence to budgets and established product roadmaps. Follows up on open points/actions that were observed during trials; ensures they are conveyed as actionable items. Drives innovation, quality initiatives, and financial best practices (such as cost-benefit analysis) into projects and activities in the manufacturing and/or engineering organization. Drives best practices through documentation control policies and procedures. Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience
- Typically has 10+ years of work experience in engineering development, implementation, and project planning tools
- Proven track record of managing end-to-end product development budgets, financial forecasting, and executing cost-improvement initiatives
- Good understanding of product roadmaps and their financial implications
