Job Summary

System Operations Engineer I–IV at Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC) supports the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of Georgia's electric generation and transmission systems. Partners with the Energy Control Center (ECC) and System Control Center (SCC) to provide day-ahead and real-time engineering support, analyze system conditions with load flow models and forecasting tools, develop and enhance operational applications and analytical tools, support outage coordination and reliability planning, ensure compliance with NERC standards, and mentor others at higher levels. The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field, strong analytical/problem-solving abilities, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and effective communication. Preferred qualifications include EMS/SCADA/AGC experience, load flow and system modeling, unit commitment and economic dispatch, forecasting, OATI, outage management, programming (Python, VBA), data historians (PI, eDNA), and familiarity with power plant operations and transmission switching. Required Qualifications

  • Short-term load or renewable forecasting (preferred)
  • OATI interchange scheduling software (preferred)
  • Outage management systems (preferred)
  • Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, VBA) (preferred)
  • Data historians and databases (e.g., PI, eDNA) (preferred)
  • Familiarity with power plant operations and transmission switching (preferred)
