Job Summary
System (Linux) Admin responsible for engineering of systems administration solutions, installing/rebuilding servers and configuring hardware, peripherals, services, and storage to standards; manage virtualization (VMware, KVM), storage (NetApp, Dell/EMC, PureStorage), and infra automation (Ansible), Foreman deployment, GLPI-based system inventory, and network gear (Cisco, Mellanox). Responsible for installation/configuration of systems supporting infra/R&D, development of installation/configuration procedures, patch management, backups, and disaster recovery. Maintains system standards and security posture; researches automated approaches to system administration tasks; performs security monitoring, daily backups, log review, user management, and after-hours support as needed. Requires/Linux-related certifications (RHCSA/RHCE or Linux+ preferred or DoD 8570.1 IAT II compliant) and experience with Jira, LDAP, Jenkins, Git; strong scripting, networking, and vendor coordination skills.
Required Qualifications
- Proven system administration experience in Linux environments (2+ years)
- Experience with VMware administration
- Shell scripting
- Configure/maintain Linux servers including patching, backups, and security
- Experience with storage, backups, and SAN/NAS
- Experience with virtualization and containerization
- Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Git)
- Knowledge of network equipment (Cisco, Mellanox)
- DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II compliant certification or equivalent experience
- RHCSA/RHCE or Linux+ certification preferred
- Ability to move servers and hardware as needed
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work after hours/weekends as needed
- Experience with LDAP, Jira, and LDAP-related services
- Familiarity with SSL, reverse proxy, and three-tier architectures
- Experience with monitoring and log analysis
- Security patch management
- Experience with asset management/IT operations
