System Firmware Test Development Engineer

Job Summary
Define and implement firmware test strategies in partnership with architects to validate system reliability from boot through runtime. Design end-to-end test flows and build automation-ready solutions for both pre-silicon simulation and post-silicon hardware environments. Execute tests, debug failures, and generate high-quality debug artifacts to drive defect resolution while enhancing test infrastructure for improved coverage and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve simulation environments and contribute to next-generation AMD EPYC CPU and Instinct GPU platform validation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science
- Experience in firmware, software development, or system validation/test development
- Strong foundation in computer architecture and server platform features
- Hands-on experience with SoC validation, system bring-up, or low-level debugging
- Experience developing tests for pre-silicon environments and working with simulation/emulation platforms (e.g., Simics or similar)
- Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting with Python, Perl, or Bash

- BIOS / UEFI concepts (ACPI, SMBIOS, DXE)
- RAS features and validation
- Memory subsystem validation
- Power management and telemetry
- Platform security (TPM, Secure Boot, SPDM, etc.)
- Virtualization technologies (SR-IOV, ACPI)
- High-speed I/O (PCIe, CXL)
- Sideband protocols (MCTP, PLDM, SPDM, etc.)
