Job Summary
System Engineering Sub-Discipline Manager leading a multidisciplinary team in Ottawa, ON / Dartmouth, NS / Victoria, BC (hybrid Canada). Responsibilities include providing SysEng support throughout the project lifecycle, resource planning, recruitment/onboarding, performance and career management, coaching and mentoring, establishing processes, standards, tooling, and lessons learned; contributing to bids, projects, and product estimates; and applying Model Based Systems Engineering, IVVQ/RAMT concepts, and requirements management to deliver competitive solutions. The role requires an engineering degree or technical diploma, management experience in systems engineering, and the ability to operate in a high-security environment with occasional travel. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, defence industry experience, and French language skills.
Required Qualifications
- An engineering degree or 3-year technical program diploma in a technical field or certified as a technologist
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the last 10 years managing a SysEng team
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the last 10 years of responsibility for SysEng functions
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the last 10 years as a Systems Engineering Manager for a Capital or In-Service Support contract
- Expertise in at least one SysEng tool
- Expertise in at least one SysEng standard
- Expertise in Requirements Management
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a people or resource manager
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing a budget
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience in the Defence industry (preferred)
- Fluency in French (preferred)
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related field (preferred)
- Experience with NATO SECRET security requirements and related Canadian/US controls (as applicable)
- Occasional national and international travel
Additional Requirements
- Canada Controlled Goods Program clearance required
- Security clearance required: NATO SECRET or equivalent
- Ability to obtain authorization for access to controlled hardware/software under ITAR/EAR as applicable
