Job Summary
System Engineer role in San Francisco hardware team focused on defining and managing system-level requirements for functionally safe sensing products (autonomous/industrial). Responsibilities include developing and maintaining Safety Plan, HARA, FSC, and TSC, ensuring end-to-end traceability from system requirements to hardware/software verification; leveraging Python to automate documentation and verification processes; collaborating with hardware/software/firmware teams; leading system-level verification and V&V activities; and contributing toward achieving ISO 26262 ASIL-B or equivalent certifications. Requires a B.S. in a related field, 5+ years in systems engineering with 3+ years in functional safety, strong ISO 26262 experience, Jama Connect experience, Python scripting, and Git usage; familiarity with V-model development lifecycle. Base pay range is $160,000-$185,000 with potential equity/benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or closely related technical field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a systems engineering role
- At least 3 years directly involved in the development of functionally safe products
- Demonstrable knowledge of ISO 26262, Parts 3-6
- At least 2 years hands-on experience with Jama Connect (or similar tool)
- Proficiency in Python for automation, data processing, or verification scripting
- Experience with Git or other version control systems
- Experience across the full V-model lifecycle (concept definition to system validation and release)
Desired Qualifications

- In-depth knowledge of ISO 26262 (Parts 3-6)

- Experience across the full V-model development lifecycle
- Proven track record of shipping a sensing product with ISO 26262 ASIL-B or equivalent
