System Engineer I

Job Summary
System Engineer I at Capitec will support and maintain Capitec's server and storage environments in a production setting, monitor system performance and availability, assist with incident investigation and resolution, support configurations, implementations and upgrades, participate in change, release and basic deployment activities, perform routine maintenance and health checks, maintain accurate technical documentation, collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes in a banking-operations context.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Experience: 2+ years’ experience in a Systems Engineering, Infrastructure or IT Support role
- Experience supporting server and/or storage environments
- Exposure to production support and incident handling
- Basic experience with system configuration, monitoring or maintenance
- Basic scripting (e.g. shell)
- Monitoring and alerting tools
- Backup and recovery processes
- Business continuity concepts
- Clear criminal and credit record
