Job Summary
System Engineer – Controls leads technical aspects of complex control-system design projects in a global, cross-functional environment. Responsible for translating product requirements into system requirements, defining interfaces among electronics hardware, FPGA, firmware, software, configuration tools, networks and subsystems; driving design rigor and formal design reviews; guiding engineering teams; and identifying cost-out opportunities while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, cyber security, and maintainability across the product life cycle. Emphasizes NPI and product sustenance, RCAs, and engagement with application teams to meet controls solution requirements. Requires extensive experience in firmware/software/hardware integration, power-generation control applications, and hands-on work with RTOS, C/C++ development, and industry protocols (MODBUS, Profibus, Profinet, CAN, Ethernet). Relocation not provided; position located in Hyderabad, India.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor / Master or above in Electronics Engineering/Computer engineering/ software engineering/controls-instrumentation engineering
- Industrial Automation or equivalent
- 15+ years of experience in Firmware architecture design/digital, analog/Mixed circuit design /FPGA interfaces, system level analysis, Product/solution Development life cycle, safety, security requirements, solution Architecture, Design for Manufacturability & Reliability, Technical Regulations and standards
- Proven analytical and organizational ability
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective problem identification and solution skills
- Ability to Mentor and effective work in Cross-functional teams
- Hands-on with real-time operating systems (preferably QNX- RTOS), and programming for C/C++ applications
- Experience with control system architecture including HW, FW, FPGA, network and control applications in power generation
- Experience defining regulatory compliance requirements, safety and cyber security requirements
- Experience with MODBUS, Profibus, Profinet, FF, CAN, Ethernet
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams
