Job Summary
System Electrician III responsible for installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining electrical transmission equipment of various types and voltage classes across the region. Tasks include installing electrical equipment such as transformers, metering equipment, station service equipment, bus work, switchboards, and remote-control equipment; performing operational, trouble, and repair analyses on electrical, electronic, and electromechanical gear; and operating bucket trucks, traveling cranes, and other power-operated equipment. Requires a high school diploma or GED and an Associate Degree or completion of an apprenticeship; valid driver’s license and CDL with endorsements; respirator clearance and a DOT medical card. Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons and in constrained spaces, with strong computer skills and the ability to interpret drawings. Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED
- Associate Degree in Industrial Electricity, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology
- successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship program
- valid motor vehicle operator’s license
- Commercial Driver’s License (or ability to obtain) with endorsements for Air Brakes, Hazardous Materials and Tank Vehicles
- breathability for respirator clearance
- DOT medical card
- EEI CAST aptitude test
- basic computer skills
- ability to operate test equipment, hand and power tools
- ability to interpret electrical drawings
- ability to work from elevated positions and in confined spaces
