System (C&I) Technician

Job Summary
As a Systems Technician at Wairakei, you will be trusted to look after the systems that keep the plant running safely and efficiently. Your days will blend hands-on technical work with problem solving, collaboration, and forward thinking maintenance. You will work closely with operators, engineers, and contractors to maintain and improve control, instrumentation, and electrical systems that are critical to plant performance. You will also coach others, support safe work practices, and contribute ideas to continuously improve maintenance strategies. Must-have foundations include a relevant technical qualification such as a National Diploma, NZCE, trade or technician certificate, along with experience maintaining control, instrumentation, or electrical systems in an industrial environment. Nice-to-haves include experience with PLCs, SCADA or HMI systems, condition monitoring strategies, hazardous areas certification, or HV electrical equipment. This is a permanent, full-time role at Contact Energy, located in Taupo, Waikato, New Zealand, with in-person work arrangements.
