System Analyst II (Software Safety)

Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive safety assessments and hazard analyses on complex software systems to identify failure modes and interactions. Evaluate safety requirements, design constraints, and implementation guidelines within the software development lifecycle to ensure compliance with military standards like MIL-STD-882E. Independently perform Verification and Validation (IV&V) activities to confirm safety-critical software performs as intended and fails safely under stress. Collaborate with Safety Subject Matter Experts, program offices, and developer teams to integrate rigorous safety considerations throughout the SDLC. Actively participate in system design reviews, milestone reviews, and technical exchange meetings to provide engineering recommendations for improving architecture and robustness. Independently maintain critical safety artifacts including System Safety Assessments, Safety Assessment Reports, Functional Hazard Analyses, and Level of Rigor mapping tables. Prepare for and actively participate in recurring weekly, bi-weekly, and milestone technical meetings, including In-Process Reviews and System/Software Safety Working Groups. Stay continuously updated on advancements and regulatory updates in software safety engineering and military airworthiness policies.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen
  • DoD security clearance
  • Valid driver's License
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to interact with software developers
  • Ability to interact with software test engineers
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science or related technical fields
  • Extensive and proven background in operation of complex radar and communication simulation systems
  • Five (5) years in related field
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent communications skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to work closely with an intermixed team of government and contractor personnel
