Job Summary
System Administrator for CERN’s accelerator data centre in the Controls Software & Services group. Responsibilities include Linux system administration for control-room consoles, data centre servers, real-time embedded platforms and VMs; troubleshooting with end-users; managing data-centre infrastructure, servers, racks, networking, powering and cooling; managing desktop PCs in control rooms; overseeing networked storage systems and backups; planning annual installation work and equipment refresh; collaborating with CERN IT on infrastructure; contributing to hardware specifications for procurement. Key skills include Linux administration, data centre operations, server platforms, Ansible/Puppet/Git (or similar), storage and networks. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field; English proficiency with a commitment to learn French; 40-hour work week, onsite, contract for 5 years; willingness to work in radiation areas and underground installations; driving licence; stand-by duty when needed; benefits include relocation package, health insurance, pension, paid leave and potential extension to indefinite tenure.
