Job Summary
SY26-27 Fleet Dispatcher unit within the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Transportation department. Responsible for supporting daily operations by coordinating vehicle breakdown responses, managing spare buses and keys, scheduling repairs, and dispatching technicians and vendors. Serves as a central communications hub to ensure efficient service across the district’s fleet. Essential duties include documenting dispatch activities, updating fleet management systems with service and maintenance data, analyzing fleet performance metrics, monitoring two-way radio communications, dispatching roadside assistance, coordinating bus repairs with drivers, the bus garage, and external vendors, and tracking recall repairs. Requires strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to interpret written instructions, and the ability to communicate orally; capable of collecting and organizing detailed information and preparing required reports.
Required Qualifications
- Education Level:A GED or a standard high school diploma from a GaDOE approved and accredited institution.
- One year of experience in school transportation as a driver, scheduler, or dispatcher.
- Commercial Driver’s License or must be able to obtain within 120 days of employment with all appropriate/required endorsements for operating a school bus.
- Valid Driver’s License
