Job Summary
Teach music and choral classes to grades K-6, implementing a rigorous and balanced standards-based music curriculum. Use pedagogical methods that motivate students towards instrumental study and differentiate instruction for diverse learners. Maintain strong classroom management and high expectations for student achievement, while collaborating with school faculty on interdisciplinary curriculum and organizing school music performances. Assist with arrival and dismissal as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree
- Must meet federal requirements and highly qualified status for Massachusetts charter school educators
- Two or more years of classroom teaching experience in urban setting preferred
- Must be able to play piano
- Must be proficient in teaching piano to students on different levels
- Must be able to play piano in the different genres of music (i.e. classical, contemporary, choral, gospel, jazz, etc.)
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in preferred
- General Music certification K-6
- Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
