Job Summary
Instructional Assistant positions support students with special education needs and collaborate with teachers to implement IEP goals and accommodations. Responsibilities include working with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning objectives, assisting with online learning, developing students’ social-emotional skills, helping maintain classroom routines, supervising students during structured and unstructured times (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions, bus loading/unloading), and maintaining a confidential, professional demeanor. Willingness to substitute or perform other duties as requested. Location-focused duties occur at Sheffield Elementary School in Lynchburg, VA. Desirable qualifications include high school diploma or GED, 60 credits or an Associate’s Degree, or ParaPro assessment, and some experience with children.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility; or an Associate’s Degree; or completed the ParaPro assessment.
- Some experience in working with children.
