Job Summary
Foundational Literacy Teacher responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-based literacy instruction to Pre-K through 3rd-grade students, using backwards-planned unit plans, literacy-focused assessments, and data-driven adjustments. Collaborates with content and grade-level teams, builds trusting relationships with students and families, and contributes to Real World Learning experiences that connect literacy to authentic, real-world outcomes. Strong emphasis on equity, rigorous literacy knowledge (foundational literacy, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension), and the ability to model and internalize curriculum while aligning with college-readiness expectations. Supports school culture, attends meetings and events, and participates in supervisory duties as part of a collaborative, mission-driven team at KIPP KC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Missouri Teaching license with required certification for subject and level assigned
- Satisfactory outcome of a background check
