Job Summary
Social Worker in a K-12 school setting responsible for coordinating and providing mental health supports to students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges and their families, while assisting academic learning. Works with teachers, administrators, and families to address student needs, conducts frequent individual, group, and workshop sessions to address social/emotional needs, provides psycho-education, completes assessments for additional needs, maintains accurate documentation, participates in IEP and 504 planning, and collaborates with staff to develop interventions and referrals. Preferred LPC licensure and bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities; minimum two years of school counseling experience (grades 9-12) and strong communication and advocacy skills are required. Reports to the Assistant Principal of Culture and Counseling; 12-month full-time position in Washington, DC.
