Job Summary
Conduct general law enforcement duties including patrolling the hospital campus, checking property, conducting room searches, and maintaining order and public safety. Issue traffic and parking citations, apprehend suspects, collect evidence, and respond to medical emergencies. Assist in fire drills, evacuate buildings, provide security escorts, and chauffeur division heads and visitors as requested. Maintain proficiency in firearms use and attend required periodic training sessions. Work day shifts from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Saturday through Sunday, in various environments including extreme weather.
Required Qualifications
- Currently sworn, non-retired Police Officer
- At least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Police ID
- VPEC
- Firearm certification
- North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement certification
- Able to work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
- Able to occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
- Able to climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
- Able to stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
- Attend required periodic training sessions and seminars
- Maintain required level of proficiency in the use of firearms
