Job Summary
Conduct general law enforcement duties including patrolling hospital campuses, checking property, and conducting room searches to maintain order and public safety. Issue traffic and parking citations, apprehend and question suspects, collect evidence, and conduct investigations. Respond to medical emergencies, assist in fire drills and evacuations, provide security escorts, and chauffeur division heads and visitors as requested. Maintain proficiency in firearms use by attending required periodic training sessions and seminars. Work in various environments including cold weather, rain, snow, or heat, occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds, climbing stairs or ladders, and standing or walking on various surfaces for long periods. Full-time, part-time, weekend-only, and on-call shifts available.
Required Qualifications
- Currently sworn, non-retired Police Officer
- At least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Police ID
- VPEC
- Firearm certification
- North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement certification
- Able to work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
- Able to occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
- Able to climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
- Able to stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
- Attend required periodic training sessions and seminars
- Maintain required level of proficiency in the use of firearms
