Switchman

Job Summary
As a Switchman, operate track switches and assist in determining train/railcar routes. Apply or release hand brakes, read and understand rule books, and communicate with customers and team members using signals or radio to coordinate movements. Inspect railcars in motion and stationary, connect air hoses and electrical components between locomotives or railcars, and perform basic electronic reporting for train documentation. Work outdoors in all weather conditions on 12-hour shifts, with a schedule that includes nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call periods. Requires HS diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, and being at least 18 years old; pre-employment physical, hearing/vision checks, and background screening are required. Training is provided on the job, with opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization.

- At least 18 years of age
- Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical review
- Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history
- Relocation within 50 miles of assigned location or willingness to relocate (relocation not offered)
