Job Summary
Switchgear Repair Technician needed to troubleshoot, test and inspect complex low, medium, and high voltage switchgear systems, and operate various test equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, and maintaining switchgear components (automatic transfer switches, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, transformers); consulting manuals and schematics to troubleshoot; using test equipment to detect malfunction; preparing repair/replacement recommendations and reporting inspection results; and working in compliance with policies. Requires ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and specifications, and willingness to travel locally and overnight; overtime and weekend work and on-call availability are noted. NETA certification preferred; six years of related experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Six years of low and medium voltage switchgear testing and repair preferred
- NETA Certification preferred
- Ability to travel locally and overnight
- Able to read and interpret drawings/diagrams and specifications (electrical, mechanical and connection)
- Strong oral and written communication and analytical skills
- Able to work with minimal direction or supervision
- Experience with health and safety programs including lock out tag out
