Job Summary
Design electrical control systems and components using engineering principles and design software, coordinating manufacturing, installation, and maintenance support to ensure compliance with specifications and codes. Perform detailed calculations to establish standards, review drawings for technical and regulatory conformance, and provide technical support to internal and external customers. Conduct power testing of protective relay panels, medium voltage switchgear, and communication components, maintaining test folders with reports and drawings. Lead problem-solving initiatives to analyze quality failures and improve testing efficiency. Work with purchasing and vendors to manage quotes and lead times, while adhering to HSEQ, DOT, and OSHA policies. Maintain electrical equipment and follow company safety protocols, including occasional overtime for night and weekend jobs.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in related field or equivalent experience
- minimum of 5 years of combined experience
- Understanding of basic electrical and control system principles
- familiarity with reading electrical schematics
- familiarity with reading three-line diagrams
- familiarity with reading control / communication diagrams
- Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts within the company to achieve objectives
- Excellent communication skills
- organizational skills
- problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify processes needing improvement and recommendations towards improvement
- Able to work overtime (nights and weekends) to complete jobs in progress
- Occasionally lifting a maximum of 50lbs on a daily
- Position requires standing and using computer and/or phone for extended periods of time
