Switchgear Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

Evaluate customer electrical and mechanical drawings to develop compliant low and medium voltage switchgear system configurations. Design, develop, and review electrical drawings and engineering bills of materials while selecting components that meet NEC, NFPA, ANSI, UL, IEEE, and IEC standards. Perform design reviews and engineering evaluations to validate system performance and code compliance, then provide technical leadership to Manufacturing, Drafting, Purchasing, and Quality teams. Serve as the primary resource for customers and contractors regarding product application and system performance. Lead technical reviews, drawing inspections, and witness testing activities to support project execution and implement design improvements for quality and reliability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 3–5 years of electrical engineering experience in power distribution, switchgear, industrial controls, or related electrical systems
  • 3–5 years of experience designing, reviewing, and approving electrical drawings and control system documentation
  • 3–5 years of experience working with low and medium voltage electrical systems, components, and equipment
  • 3–5 years of experience applying electrical engineering design principles and industry standards, including NEC, NFPA, ANSI, UL, IEEE, and IEC
  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • bilingual in English/Spanish

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Experience with control design and electrical system integration
