Job Summary
Switchboard Operator serves as the Information/Communications Center of the hospital. Duties include answering incoming calls; transferring calls to appropriate parties; announcing/re-announcing emergency procedures/calls, and assisting with outgoing calls. Has access to patient name, location, and discharge date only. Requires high school graduate or equivalent, excellent communication skills, and ability to perform repetitive tasks. Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test, and be able to lift up to 60 lbs with assistance. Includes light/medium work with potential physical demands and standard hospital telecommunication duties.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills required
- Experience in Switchboard preferred
- Good visual acuity
- Good hearing essential
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks
- Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test (walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, sitting for up to 8-12 hours)
- Ability to lift/move up to 60 lbs with assistance or assistive devices
