Job Summary
Switchboard Operator for AdventHealth Lake Wales (Part-Time Nights/Weekends). Handles patient, visitor, physician, and staff communications via phone and front desk interactions; answers calls promptly, forwards to proper departments, maintains on-call lists, and updates disaster-code announcements according to procedure. Requires clear communication, ability to learn clinical terminology, multitasking in a fast-paced hospital environment, and professional, courteous service. Supports hospital mission with excellent customer service, and should possess strong phone/desk skills, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to work independently with sound judgment. Night/weekend shifts and high-quality patient-centered interactions are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, speak, listen, receive, understand, and disseminate communications effectively
- Competent knowledge in standard computer applications with an ability to type 30 wpm
- Capable of learning and retaining a vast amount of information including clinical terminology
- Adept in multi-tasking in a high volume and fast paced environment
- Ability to work independently and to apply logical and safe decision making in communicating critical situations
- Embraces learning and adapting to frequent changes to data used to direct and manage calls
- Maintains calm and courteous composure when dealing with emergencies or dissatisfied callers
- Strong independent worker, critical thinking, and good judgement qualities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office products
