Job Summary
Swine Specialist responsible for the daily care and well-being of pigs to achieve production goals. Responsibilities include feeding and watering animals, cleaning pens, tagging animals for identification, moving animals through breeding, gestation, and farrowing phases, monitoring sows during labor, assisting births, caring for piglets, processing piglets (tail clipping, shots, castration), administering vaccinations per health protocol, weighing/aging animals for weaning and transport, observing heat signs, artificial insemination, maintaining accurate records, attending trainings, and adhering to biosecurity policies. Also responsible for monitoring ventilation, maintaining facility hygiene, performing minor repairs to equipment/buildings/stalls, and performing other duties as assigned. Essential competencies include being detail-oriented, organized, reliable, responsible, and adaptable.
