Job Summary
Facilitate swim team growth by coaching, training, and mentoring participants to maximize performance and teach proper techniques. Lead practices designed by the Head Coach, customize workouts for skill levels, and provide feedback to swimmers and parents. Coordinate meet entries, supervise team members at competitions, and ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations. Monitor the pool environment for risks, intervene as necessary, and maintain water safety certifications. Submit certifications to HR and attend required trainings. Must be 16+, USA Swimming certified, and proficient in swimming.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- USA Swimming certified
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have prior experience with competitive swimming
- Must be proficient in swimming
- Must be proficient in safety skills
- Must have ability to motivate
- Must have ability to educate participants
- Must be mentally capable to handle dangerous situations
- Strong computer skills
- Must be safety conscious
- Must follow all established YMCA standards
- Must critically evaluate situations for potential risks
- Must ensure compliance with established rules and regulations
- Must monitor swimmers and the pool
- Must provide corrective coaching and intervention as necessary
- Must actively participate in obtaining further water safety certifications
- Must attend all in-service trainings and staff meetings as scheduled
- Must maintain job-related certifications
- Must document completion of certifications in the Human Resources Information System
- Must report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
- Must follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs
- Must report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
- Must complete all child abuse prevention training as required
