Job Summary
Swim Lesson Instructor responsible for delivering private or group swimming lessons under YMCA guidelines at Winston-Salem, NC. Uses prepared lesson plans, builds authentic relationships with students and parents, communicates program information, maintains attendance and progress records, participates in staff meetings and training, follows safety procedures and pool rules, and trains/supervises class aides. Requires CPR/First Aid certifications and YMCA instructor certification (or equivalent to be achieved within 90 days). Knowledge of stroke techniques (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke) and strong organizational, verbal, written, and customer service skills. Must be 16 years of age or older and able to lift equipment and assist participants as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 16 years of age or older
- YMCA Swim Instructor Certification, or equivalent (achieve within 90 days)
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards; knowledge of swim strokes, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and sidestroke
