SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTOR

Job Summary
The Swim Lesson Instructor is responsible for instructing swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, preparing lesson plans, and supporting members in achieving their goals. This role involves developing positive relationships with program participants, maintaining records such as attendance and progress reports, and adhering to all YMCA policies and safety procedures. The instructor is also required to train and supervise class aides, organize class equipment, and complete necessary incident reports. Qualifications include YMCA Swim Instructor certification, CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, as well as the ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills. A background check is required.
Required Qualifications
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and AED
- Must meet all Association-Wide training requirements in addition to those set forth by their Supervisor
- Must be able to pass a Nationwide Criminal and Sex Offender Registry Background Screening
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards
- Ability to lift equipment and small to average size child

- Must ensure that the physical and social environments for program delivery reflect the Y’s definition of character and values
