Job Summary
Deliver high-quality swim lessons to groups and individuals using prepared lesson plans while instructing participants on proper stroke techniques. Build authentic relationships with students and parents, encourage parent involvement, and identify potential volunteers. Maintain accurate records for attendance and progress reports, complete incident and accident reports as necessary, and organize class equipment. Train and supervise class aids, ensure safety compliance, and support departmental goals through effective communication and teamwork. Work flexible schedules including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- YMCA Swim Instructor Certification
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
- AED certification
- Basic First Aid certification
- Emergency Oxygen certification
- Swimming instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards
- Valid California Driver's License
- Acceptable driving record in accordance with YMCA policy
- Required automobile insurance coverage
- Reliable transportation for Association business
- Criminal background check/fingerprinting
- Reference verification
- Employment verification
- Drug screening
- TB clearance
- Physical examination
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to travel between branch locations, if applicable
- Must be able to demonstrate swimming instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards
