Job Summary
Swim Instructors will provide instruction and leadership for swim lessons under the direction of the Aquatics Director according to YMCA National Aquatic Program guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining good relations with parents and participants, ensuring safety, developing schedules, and demonstrating proficient swimming skills. Required qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, relevant experience, and current swim instructor certification. Ideal candidates are passionate about swimming, possess excellent communication skills, and can respond effectively to emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing High School diploma or GED.
- Two or more years of experience participating in or working with aquatics and swim lessons, preferred.
- YMCA SI Certified or WSI.
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual, English and Spanish, a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Ability to swim 4 of the 6 strokes.
Additional Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must successfully complete a Level II fingerprinting background screening.
- Must successfully complete a drug test.
