Job Summary
The Swim Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for swimming classes, develops lesson plans according to YMCA standards, and communicates progress to parents and students. Builds relationships with parents and students, informs them about aquatics programs and schedules, and refers to other programs as appropriate. Maintains records and attends trainings as scheduled; performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Requires ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques, lift equipment and small to average-sized children, and comply with safety and program guidelines. Certifications required include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen; current YMCA Swim Instructor certification or training provided.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid Certification, and Emergency Oxygen
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification or training provided
