Job Summary
Swim Instructors provide instruction and leadership for swim lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining good relations with parents, managing schedules, and addressing safety concerns. Candidates should be pursuing a high school diploma, have experience in aquatics, and hold certifications such as YMCA SI Certified or WSI. Must possess excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to respond to emergencies. The position requires swimming proficiency and involves working primarily in an outdoor pool setting.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing High School diploma or GED
- YMCA SI Certified or WSI
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
- Ability to swim four of the six strokes and tread water for two minutes
Desired Qualifications
- Experience participating in or working with aquatics and swim lessons
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Additional Requirements
- Must successfully complete a drug test
- Must submit to a Level II fingerprinting background screening
