Job Summary
Swim Instructors provide instruction and leadership for swim lessons according to YMCA National Aquatic Program guidelines. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with parents and participants, ensuring safety standards, and managing schedules. Candidates should be pursuing a high school diploma and have experience in aquatics. Certification in YMCA Swim Instruction or Water Safety Instruction is required. Must be able to perform swim techniques and respond to emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing High School diploma or GED
- Two or more years of experience participating in or working with aquatics and swim lessons preferred
- YMCA SI Certified or WSI
- Must be at least 16 years old
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual, English and Spanish, a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
- Avid swimmer
- High-energy personality
- Comfortable with public speaking
Additional Requirements
- As a condition of employment, must submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening
- Must successfully complete a drug test; Medical Marijuana cards do not exempt from passing
