Job Summary
Teach swim lessons under the YMCA model, prioritizing child safety by keeping all children in flotation within arm's reach and maintaining constant visual control. Execute five-program components including stroke development, water sports, and rescue drills while adhering to strict pool rules and emergency procedures. Manage class logistics by reporting on deck 15 minutes prior to shift, preparing equipment, and maintaining accurate attendance records for skill completions. Communicate student progress to parents and exercise judgment to meet individual student goals. Participate in monthly safety drills, required in-service trainings, and branch safety quality drills. Shifts vary, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, with a requirement to complete Child Abuse Prevention and CPR certification within the first four weeks.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff
- Must be able to scan the pool visually
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Child Abuse Prevention (within first four weeks of employment)
- Respect in the Workplace (Sexual Harassment Prevention)
- CPR, First Aid, O2
- WSI
