Job Summary
Swim Instructor at West Park YMCA delivers swim instruction using the YMCA curriculum to members, participants, and non-members, plans each class, ensures safety and proper materials, maintains clean pool area, evaluates participants’ swimming skills and places them in appropriate classes, communicates effectively with participants and parents, and adheres to YMCA policies and safety guidelines. Must obtain required trainings/certifications within specified timelines and support association events and fundraising; role emphasizes safety, skill development, and positive participant experience.
Required Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire
- Current swim instructor (WSI or YSI) certification preferred prior to hire. Or must be obtained within the first (3 months) 90 days of hire
- Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
- Gathers periodic participants feedback through distribution written evaluation provided by the Program Director
