Job Summary
Teach children swimming safety and skills as a part-time swim instructor. Instruct swimming lessons using age-appropriate methods and YMCA curriculum, while building relationships with students and parents. Maintain accurate records, support special events, and adhere to YMCA policies. Candidates must demonstrate swimming ability and possess certifications or be willing to obtain them. Experience with diverse populations and technological proficiency is beneficial.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification (or able to obtain within 90 days of hire)
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job
